Excess weight over your ideal weight
You can determine your excess weight by comparing your weight to a chart
showing what your ideal weight should be. This chart was developed by the
Metropolitan Life Insurance company. You can:

Men

site to calculate your ideal weight (hit "back" on your browser

If your current weight is 100 pounds over your ideal weight, you qualify
for Bariatric Treatment Centers' program based on the weight criteria.
Body Mass Index
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a relationship between height and weight that is
used to assess health risk. It is the measurement of choice used by healthcare
providers and researchers studying obesity. BMI is expressed as weight in
kilograms divided by height in meters squared (BMI = kg/m2, but don't worry,
you won't have to do the math).
Check a BMI Chart
National Institute of Health guidelines suggest that if your Body Mass
Index (BMI) is 40 or more, you should be considered for bariatric surgery.
In addition, if your BMI is between 35 and 40 and you have serious associated
health-risk factors, you also may be a surgical candidate.
Don't know how much you weigh?
Many patients who come to BTC frankly don't know exactly how much they
weigh, because most home scales, and many scales in doctor's offices
don't measure over 300 pounds. One of our patients knew how much he
weighed only because the factory where he worked had a scale designed
to weigh incoming shipments of steel. Bariatric Treatment Centers has
scales designed for the seriously overweight, with capacity up to 1,000
pounds. If you don't know how much you weigh, but know it's over 300
pounds, call to schedule a consultation at Bariatric Treatment Centers
to be weighed and to learn more about finding a solution to your weight
problem.
